IGP Orders Troops Deployment On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway To Check Insecurity

IGP , Three Police Officers Face Contempt Charges

To check rising insecurity on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba has ordered an immediate deployment of troops on the area.

This is coming on the heels of security reports from the commissioners of Police in charge of Lagos, Ogun and Oyo state commands.

The new measure is to checkmate the criminal activities of prowling kidnappers and armed robbers along the expressway.

FPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja.

Also, the IGP in the statement said the police authorities were not insensitive to the prevailing security challenges but have rather been occupied with charting a path towards decimating the security issue and strategically eliminating the threats along the expressway.

The police authorities even promised adequate operational support of technology-based and tactical operational assets for the Commissioners of Police in charge of the affected states.

Further, the states’ heads of tactical operational units were as well directed to combat the current trend of crimes and criminality on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

BREAKING: Court Okays Death Sentence For Hilton Hotel Owner Adedoyin For Murder Of OAU Student Adegoke

Dr Rahman Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton Hotel Ile-Ife, where Timothy Adegoke, an Obafemi Awolowo University postgraduate student was allegedly killed, will die by hanging.

This was the ruling of the Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo.

Earlier, the court found Adedoyin culpable of murder.

The Chief Judge in her judgement said the owner of the hotel and two of his workers, based on the circumstances of the case established by the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, are found culpable of conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful killing of the deceased.

Adegoke had lodged in Hilton Hotels and Resorts at Ile-Ife upon his arrival from Abuja on November 5, 2021, to enable him to arrive early for his examination at the OAU Distance Learning Centre, Moro, Osun State, on November 6 and November 7, 2021.

He later went missing and was found dead buried in a grave following a police investigation of the hotel owner, Dr Rahman Adedoyin and its workers.

After Adegoke was declared missing, the police were invited and seven suspects were arrested after which an investigation commenced.

Dele Alake

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced Mr Dele Alake as his Presidential Spokesman. He also appointed his SA on Digital Media and the State Chief of Protocol.

Ambassador Victor Kunle Adeleke is the State Chief of Protocol (SCOP) to the President while Olusegun Dada is SA Digital Media.

This were the first set of appointments by President Tinubu as the 16th Commander-In-Chief of the Army Forces in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dele Alake is a journalist and editor. He was a commissioner for information while Tinubu was a governor in Lagos State.

BREAKING: Pioneer Private TV Station Founder Raymond Dokpesi Is Dead

Chief Raymond Dokpesi

Founder of DAAR Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, died in Abuja on Monday.

Dokpesi who was also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) died at the age of 71.

He was the owner of the AIT and Raypower FM media platforms.

A family source confirmed his death.

The source said: “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of High Chief Raymond Aleogho Anthony Dokpesi (Ezomo of Weppa-Wanno Kingdom) who passed away on May 29th, 2023.

“High Chief Dokpesi was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

“High Chief Dokpesi was also a respected and accomplished businessman, a pioneer in the media industry, and a philanthropist who dedicated his life to the service of his country and his community.

“His legacy will live on through the impact he made on the lives of many.”
