How I Inherited Billions As Debts From Obiano - Soludo

Despite the exclusion of former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Chukwuma Soludo from the Anambra State governorship race by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC, he has said that he will contest.

INEC had published Hon Chuma Umeoji as a candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in place of Soludo, citing a court order.

But Soludo reacting to his exclusion said he would not only contest the election but would win overwhelmingly.

In a press statement made available in Awka by Soludo Campaign Organisation and signed by Soludo’s media aide, Joe Anatune, supporters were urged not to despair over the exclusion of his name from the INEC list, but to have faith.

Part of the statement read: “Our millions of supporters in Anambra State and elsewhere in the world are advised not to be dispirited by the publication. Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo will participate in the governorship election as the APGA candidate.

“His nomination was strictly in line with the Electoral Law and INEC guidelines. INEC observed the APGA Congress on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, where he was nominated after winning 93.4 per cent of the valid votes cast in a free, fair and transparent manner which was broadcast live on national television networks as part of deepening the democratic process in Nigeria.

“Our team of dedicated and competent legal experts have studied the judgment and are confident of overturning it effortlessly. The party is at liberty to nominate the rightful candidate so long as due process is followed. Soludo’s nomination followed due process religiously.”

Soludo said there was no need for Anambra people and all lovers of progress in Nigeria to be worried about the judgment as it would be set aside the way others by Mr Justice Stanley Nnaji of the Enugu State High Court and Mr Justice Egbo Egbo of the Federal High Court in Abuja were thrown out.”

He further said: “Millions of Ndi Anambra are understandably shocked that there are still desperate politicians in the state who want to reenact the years which the locusts consumed. They are determined to go to any and every length to acquire power for its own sake.

“We thought that the state had passed the stage where some of its politicians were moving from one end of the country to the other in the dead of the night in search of judicial orders to impose themselves on the people as their rulers, not leaders.

“Our supporters and indeed all Anambra people, who have been waiting patiently for Soludo’s leadership of the state, are advised not to be deterred by the Jigawa State Court order. They should rather remain supremely confident of not only Soludo’s participation in the November 6 gubernatorial vote but also his triumph in the polls with a big margin which will lead to a new era in our state for the benefit of all,” the statement added.

Following the allegations of terrorism financing leveled against him by the State, Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress was on Monday arrested by operatives of the Department of the State Service, DSS.

Fufeyin: Group Urges NAFDAC To Investigate Faith Healers, Claims

Witch Burning, Impunity And Abuses Linked to Witchcraft Beliefs In Benue State
Dr Leo Igwe
The Critical Thinking Social Empowerment Foundation (CTSEF) has  welcomed the investigation by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)  into the activities of a faith-based organization, Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries, and its pastor, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin.

According to Dr Leo Igwe, who directs CTSEF,  this  faith group and the pastor have reportedly been using NAFDAC’s name to deceive the public and market miracle soap and water. They claim that the soap and water have healing powers.

A statement by Igwe said: ” The Director General, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, explained that some members of the public sent petitions to the office claiming that this so-called Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin of Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries, Km 5 Effurun, Sapele Road, Delta State, has been advertising and selling some miracle water and miracle soap with healing powers. Fufeyin claimed that his miracle water and soap could ‘heal’ barrenness and other health issues.

“In addition, he claimed that women would give birth to twins if they used the soap. Fufeyin openly told his congregation that his soap was NAFDAC- registered. Meanwhile, it was not approved or registered with the agency. Some of the products from Fufeyin’s Ministry sent to NAFDAC for verification as a part of the complaint include, “Miracle & Healing Water, River Jordan Water, the Miracle Water from The Pool of Bethsaida, A New Beginning Mount Camel Miracle Water, Water of Life, Miracle Water from The Pool of Bethsaida (1L), A New Beginning Pool of Bethsaida Water, and Father Smelled Perfume.

“CTSEF commends NAFDAC for investigating the activities of Fufeyin, especially his dubious attempts to use the name of NAFDAC to legitimize his fraudulent healing products and claims. Such  an investigation is necessary to checkmate other unscrupulous pastors who deceive and exploit the unsuspecting public.

“It is pertinent to note that Fufeyin is not alone in this business. Many self-acclaimed prophets and faith healers make reckless and irresponsible miracle claims. They sell holy oil, holy handkerchiefs, and ‘sacred’ things to people, claiming they have healing powers.

“Meanwhile, there is no evidence that holy water or miracle soap heals. But these faith healers promote and advertise them; they market these fake products and get people to part with their money in exchange for goods without healing powers, as claimed.
“CTSEF enjoins NAFDAC to extend the investigation to all faith healers and healing goods that pastors, prophets, and other self-acclaimed godmen peddle and administer to the public, whether they claim to be NAFDAC-registered or not. NAFDAC should ensure that all faith healers involved in this evil trade are prosecuted and penalized.
“Fufeyin and his ministry constitute threats to public health in the country. The public should remain vigilant and report all who make faith-healing claims to NAFDAC for necessary actions.”

In a statement he posted on his general communication WhatsApp platform on Saturday, Ngelale revealed that he submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff on Friday.
