Lagos Police Commissioner Redeploys DPO For Harassing, Detaining Residents

For allegedly harassing and illegally detaining two residents, a Lagos Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Onipanu, CSP Francis Ani has been redeployed.

Ani was alleged to have ordered the detention of Tunde Abass and one Kabir Mohammed on Friday, March 19.

Abass was said to have incurred the wrath of the DPO for recording and intervening in the illegal arrest of Mohammed by men of the division around 5:00 p.m. that day.

As information of their unlawful detention went viral, Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu according to a statement by spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, directed an investigation into the case which found that the cops were unprofessional in the discharge of their duties.
