Bello Faces Corruption Charge As Court Freezes Kogi's N20b In Sterling Bank

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has confirmed that former Minister of Aviation has finally dumped his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fani-Kayode was the spokesman for the Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Organisation (TGJPCO) in the 2015 election.
In a video, Bello, who is the chairman, APC Mobilisation Committee in the ongoing new registration of the party is seen in a photograph with Fani-Kayode, alongside the APC interim National Chairman, and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
Bello said the former minister was being welcomed back into the party where he was a founding member, but left as a result of a disagreement.

He said in the video: “I have the mandate to mobilise, sensitise, to educate and to woo Nigerians into the party, irrespective of their background. Our brother and friend, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has joined our party in good faith. He is joining our party to come and add his own positive energy and make contributions to ensuring that APC is a party to beat.

“Remember Femi Fani-Kayode was a foundation member of this great party, but due to a misunderstanding, he decided to port elsewhere before. Now he has decided to join our party, he approached me and by the mandate given to me by the party, I must not segregate, I must not discriminate against any individual.

“Even if he had his own opinion about the party before, about the government before and he has seen the light, the reality and the need to join the All Progressives Congress, it is just nice, it is just important, it is just smooth and very, very sweet to accommodate and welcome Chief Femi Fani-Kayode to come and join this party.

“Remember that this party does not belong to one individual. It belongs to all Nigerians. You’re free to join. If you feel otherwise and you cannot understand what is happening before and now you can understand what is happening, and you want to join, we will welcome you with our arms wide open.

“So, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, you are welcome to our party. Come and make your own contribution and ensure that this party is greater than any individual in Nigeria.”

Stop Panic Buying, Fuel Subsidy Removal Not Immediate – Tinubu

Why I Stopped Using Social Media - Tinubu
President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday assured Nigerians that the removal of subsidy would not be immediate and that they should stop panic buying of petroleum.

The president’s position was stated by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Media Centre.

In a statement, the centre urged the public to relax panic-buying that has ensued as a result of his speech.

The statement explained the development is neither new nor an action of his new administration.

The Tweet reads: “The public is advised to note that President Bola Tinubu’s declaration that “subsidy is gone” is neither a new development nor an action of his new administration.

“He was merely communicating the status quo, considering that the previous administration’s budget for fuel subsidy was planned and approved to last for only the first half of the year.

“Effectively, this means that by the end of June, the Federal Government will be without funds to continue the subsidy regime, translating to its termination.

“The panic-buying that has ensued as a result of the communication is needless; it will not take immediate effect.

“Furthermore, President Tinubu was clear about his plans to re-channel the funds previously devoted to the payment of subsidies into better investments that will cushion the effects of the removal on the general public, especially the poor of the poor. This includes but is not limited to investments in public infrastructure, education, healthcare and jobs that will materially improve the lives of millions of Nigerians and increase their earning potential.”
