The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Delta State chapter, has disowned a notice of a programme of an event scheduled for September 11, 2021.
The event tagged “WHO IS A HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST” is billed to hold at Otokutu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State and the organiser is said to be CDHR.
But the CDHR has denied being involved in the planned event. A statement by the CDHR said: “CDHR hereby DISCLAIMS the action as the handiwork of persons who do not mean well for members of the public and CDHR as a noble organization in Nigeria.
At best those behind the notice are mere adventurous tricksters who want to use the name of CDHR to attract undue influence and advantage to themselves and what they have set out to do to curry favour from the uninformed and unsuspecting members of the public which they would in turn use to exploit them for their personal gains.

The main objective of these fellows is to extort monies from persons who appear gullible to oil their dubious and extravagant lifestyle. For the avoidance of doubt, there is only one CDHR in Nigeria with it’s National Headquarter at No, 43, Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria duly registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Abuja under the leadership of a reputable lawyer, Dr. Osagie Obayuwana, a two-time Attorney General of Edo State as its current National President with great other Nigerians with him as members of the National Executives Committee (NEC) and a vibrant branch in Delta State with an office at the Isoken Plaza, No. 3, Warri/Effurun Road, Enerhen Junction, Enerhen in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State under the chairmanship of Comrade Elder (Chief) A. P. Edariese, a retired banker, with 10 members of the state Executive Committee who include lawyers, accountants and men and women who have made great marks in different fields.
The CDHR organizational structure also has a Board of Trustees with an eminent lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) as it’s Chairman, Dr. Osagie Obayuwana, Prof. Lucky Akaruese of the University of Port Harcourt, Gbenga Awosode Esq., Debo Adeniran and Malachy Ugwummadu Esq. as members.
All the above clarifications become necessary to put the records straight in the public domain so that nobody can be fooled into falling a victim of circumstances in the hands of unscrupulous elements in our society who are everywhere today trying to get undue advantage over their fellow human beings to extort them to solve their life’s problems.”
